Government response to Prosperous Places: Taking forward the Review of Sub-National Economic Development and Regeneration
This document sets out how the Government will take forward the reforms proposed in the Review of Sub-National Economic Development and Regeneration, following public consultation. The review considered how to strengthen economic performance in England's regions, cities and localities, as well as how to tackle persistent pockets of deprivation.
Housing and Planning Delivery Grant Final Allocations 2008-09
This spreadsheet sets out the final allocations for each local authority from the Housing and Planning Delivery Grant for 2008-09. The grant provides additional direct funding for councils to ensure that new homes are built where families need them.

In total SIGOMA Authority Members have recieved £12,063,249 from this funding.

The Working Neighbourhoods Fund 2009-11: Revising the third criterion - Consultation
This consultation seeks views on the Government's proposal for revising the third criterion used to determine eligibility for the Working Neighbourhoods Fund. Transforming Places, Changing Lives: A Framework for Regeneration

The briefing covers the proposals made by Government in the recently released consultation on the regeneration framework.

The closing date for the consultation is 31st October 2008.

Government outlines new ways to lift children out of poverty and increase social mobility
A package of new initiatives to help families and end child poverty as part of a renewed drive to increase social mobility will be announced by Children's Secretary Ed Balls, Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell and Chief Secretary to the Treasury Yvette Cooper today.
Health Inequalities: Progress and next steps

Fear of Crime or Anxiety about a Rapid Changing Society?
Research, funded by the Economic & Social Research Council, shows that our everyday concerns about crime in England and Wales are much less frequent than previously thought. For people who live in high crime areas, the fear of crime tends to be an everyday experience that reduces their quality of life. Yet for those people who live more protected lives, the fear of crime tends to be a more diffuse feeling that reflects a broader expression of concerns about social change.

SIGOMAs latest regional disparities report was published in May 2008. It highlights the consistent inequalities gap that remain between SIGOMA and the national average.

Strengthening support for home owners in current market conditions
A new £10 million package of measures to support home owners who may be facing difficulties with their mortgage, is announced today by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling and Housing Minister Caroline Flint.
